The Fayette County Cooperative Extension’s 2011 Gardener’s Toolbox series classes are about ready to begin . Here’s the beginning line-up:
1.27 Basic Pruning of Trees and Shrubs
2.8 Lawn Care with a Green Emphasis
2.10 Starting Seeds Indoors
2.22 Beekeeping Basics
2.24 Pruning Backyard Fruit Trees
3.8 Organic and Sustainable Practices for the Home Gardener
3.10 Introduction to Vegetable Gardening: The Early Crops
3.22 Equipment for Beekeepers
3.31 The Humble Potato
4.12 The Backyard Asparagus Patch
4.16 Raspberries and Blackberries
4.26 Beekeeping: Understanding the Hive and Its Management

Other upcoming classes include backyard poultry, herbs, lawn care, composting and even terrariums.
Most classes will be held at the Fayette county extension office 1140 Red Mile Place, and costs vary from $10 to $25, depending on materials. You can sign up for just one or two of special interest to you, but if you join 6 or more, there’s a 20% discount. Pre-registration is required, and some class sizes are limited, so sign up early.
