We’d have called it a late snow, if this had been a normal winter here in the Bluegrass. But this is pretty much our only accumulation enough to keep schools closed this year.
Are you worried about the forsythia and daffodil flowers that were already showing spring color? This freeze may nip a few petals on those that were already in full bloom, but it’s not cold enough to hurt the plants in a major way. Just enjoy the contrast of snow highlighting branches and rock walls against blue skies; it will melt away soon enough. bringing moisture and nutrients to plant roots.
Spring is just around the corner.
